Dan Mangan held my sock!

Dan Mangan with sock

I was lucky enough to go to the Dan Mangan concert at the First Baptist Church in Ottawa last night. My new crutches (visible in the sock photo, a la The Yarn Harlot) were a pain (particularly when trying to leave in the snow!!!), but the music was amazing! Churches do indeed have great acoustics. The final song was a highlight, with the entire band in the centre aisle of the church, playing accoustically, and the entire audience singing our part as well!

My favourite song is Robots (watch the video below!)

We ended up buying the newest cd on the way out, as well as a cd from one of the opening bands, The Crackling. So lucky to be able to support artists I love!

Rhinebeck 2010 Part II: The Place

So, I made it to Rhinebeck this year (aka the New York Sheep and Wool Festival)! In an effort to focus on things other than the products, I took my birthday present to myself (a digital SLR). Here are some of the shots from the grounds.

Ms. Suki wants you to know...

...that she is not impressed by the level of service around here. Going away for a whole weekend leaves things in such a state. I will maybe get around to blogging about Rhinbeck next weekend.

I am quite enamoured of my new camera, though!

Rhinebeck!!

Yarn Statue
Originally uploaded by knitter_tara.

The photo doesn't have much to do with this post, other than the sheep on top! The local Business Association for Little Italy installed a bunch of statues along Preston St, and this one struck my fancy.

Anyway, I thought I would actually post to say that I will be at Rhinebeck Bingo! I will be at the Ravelry meetup on Saturday, and maybe the Ravelry Party (although I make no definitive claims on that one, as the last two times I was at Rhinebeck, we were too exhausted to make it to any of the after parties...) Anyway, hopefully I will see some old friends, and meet some new ones, and maybe buy a little yarn!

Blog Life?

Yes, It's been a while since I've blogged. Stuff happened. But I feel like it might be time to start up again. See if I have something interesting to put out into the blogosphere...

Knitting Olympics - Milo socks

Milo past heel turn

I am indeed participating in the Milo socks from Sock Innovation), but now that I've determined that what I've done so far will actually fit a human being, it's going much faster. I'm now coming up on the toe decreases of the first sock.

I really do love this pattern. It's actually a pretty easy chart (or 3), but by changing the order of the charts results in a sock that looks much more impressive than it would otherwise be.

I found my cozy on the Spins and Needles flickr site! It's pretty cute, with it's new pink addition (mine is the gargantuan white lace that's been in progress for years without any real goal. I'm just glad it's in use and no longer in my WIP basket! ;) )
